ClarisWorks®
by Claris® Corporation

These instructions are for the Macintosh version ONLY. These are some tips and trouble-shooting that may help.

If you receive a "Not Enough Memory" error when inserting our clipart, you will need to close ClarisWorks and allocate more memory to the program. Make sure you "exit" or "quit" all other programs when working with graphics in ClarisWorks. Click on the icon that looks like a computer in the upper right corner of your screen, a pull-down menu appears. There shouldn't be any programs listed (except "Finder"). If there are, then click on one of the names, click on "File", "Exit" or "Quit" to close the program. Do the same for all the others.

Now, we are going to allocate more memory to ClarisWorks. To do this, you need to find the "application program". Double-click on your hard drive. Look for the "ClarisWorks" folder and double-click on it. Look for the file that says "Claris" or "ClarisWorks" or similar (this should be the application file). Click only once on it to select it. In the upper left of your screen, click on "File", "Get Info". Under "Memory Requirements" allocate 5,000 to the "Preferred Size". This should now be adequate memory to insert the clipart. Just allocate more memory if you need more in the future.

Create your projects in the "Drawing" worksheet. Follow the instructions located in our booklet for importing the clipart.

Click --> http://www.coolclipart.com to go to Dream Maker Software's website. Under "Tips & Tricks", they tell you how to set up your page to get good quality images for printing. If you do not follow their instructions, the PICT images will be jagged and not clean and sharp as our images were intended. They also have wonderful clipart, so your visit to their website will be well worth it!

When scaling images, always hold down the "SHIFT" key on your keyboard and at the same time click and drag a corner of the image to reduce or enlarge the image. You MUST hold down the "SHIFT" key, otherwise the image will not stay in proportion.

Users of the original version of "Li'l Kritters & Li'l Darlin's" ONLY: You can create scenes, however, you cannot overlap directly on top of colored areas of another image. You'll have to play around and slide an overlapping image to the side until it's not covering any colored areas. Always put small images on a "layer" in "front" of larger images so that it appears in your picture. Otherwise, the white areas of the larger clipart will totally cover the smaller clipart.

Users of ALL versions: Do the following to change the "order" (layer front or back) ...

To put an image on a layer in BACK or in FRONT of other images for overlapping purposes, click "ARRANGE", "MOVE TO BACK" or "MOVE TO FRONT" (depending on which you want).
